Annie Wang is an experienced coach, mentor, and public speaker who is passionate about sharing unique, powerful human stories to empower individuals towards greater heights. She believes that everyone has the potential within them to transform their lives, if given actionable and accurate information. Annie's mission is to empower individuals to become their best selves, and thus bettering the world. When humans grow, humanity glows.

Fellow Human Trying to Mobilize Mankind Toward Progression, Not Perfection.

Born in a beautiful village in southeast China, Annie is just like any other human with a humble beginning. Her parents named her Yahang Wang [Ya-Hong Wong], which means “beyond Asia"— a representation of her parents’ desire for their child to achieve more than their ancestors beyond the rural fields of China. Little did she know, she would go on to create a legacy for her family of hardworking farmers. Annie is deeply motivated by her gratitude for her communities, her curiosity for the wonders of life, and her empathy for all conscious life. She is a champion of change and an advocate against injustice. She is a fighter, but she is also a peacemaker.

After eleven years of learning English as a second language since she moved to America, she was finally able to use what she learned as a source of inspiration when she was invited to speak at the Fall 2019 Ross Story Lab Showcase. Annie told a deeply vulnerable and personal story on the Robertson Auditorium stage in front of hundreds of people. Being on this stage marked one of many milestones as part of her dream to inspire people with her voice, her learnings, and of course, her story.

From struggling to memorize the alphabet to falling behind in her ESOL class, Annie was initially afraid of embracing the English language. Her discovery of rap music offered her a creative outlet and a linguistic muse to improve her English. With passion in her mind and a strong beat in her heart, she began experimenting with lyrics, hoping to transcend individual words into insightful phrases.

In 2018, Annie finally decided to take a risk and perform at Virginia Girls State, a week-long program for girls across Virginia. As the beat started, she took a deep breath and began to rap. The atmosphere was electric and the audience mesmerized, caught up in the energy and passion of her performance. After her final verse, she faked a mic drop, and bowed with a beaming smile. The crowd of hundreds of girls erupted in applause and cheers, their hearts touched and inspired. Knowing she had empowered so many beautiful souls, an overwhelming happiness filled her heart.
